With its unique location at the end of a valley, Ramundberget offers unrivaled privacy and wilderness immersion. Get lost for hours and pick chanterelles and cloudberries; the treasured "gold of the woods."
Hike the Real Swedish Mountains
Ramundberget offers many beautiful hiking trails and hidden rest spots in the hills. Choose between day hikes to waterfalls, old mines and peaks, or tours that start and finish above the treeline. See how you feel on the day, and pick according to desire and energy levels.
The mountains are always nearby in Ramundberget, with many hiking trails starting just around the corner. If you're aiming higher, catching the chairlift from Ramundberget Village lets you start your walk with a view. Hike, pick cloudberries, or just enjoy the panoramic vistas of the mountains around you. If you want to hike to a waterfall, both Sveån River and Tvärån River are reachable in a few hours. Wander through sparse birch forest until the trees end and the bare mountain begins. Drink straight from the many brooks and rivers you pass, or go for a wild swim in one of the natural pools beneath the waterfalls.
If you choose to drive here, we can guide you to our many Mountain Parking Lots which allow you to park your car right on top of the mountain. Djupdalsvallen Valley is a popular destination, where many hike up to Mittåkläppen to enjoy a Swedish "frasvåffla" (waffle with whipped cream and jam) in their cozy "våffelstuga" (traditional Swedish waffle house). You can also walk here from Ramundberget Village, a 5 km hike through somewhat steep terrain with lots of beautiful mountain lakes and spectacular views.
Another popular activity is to attend one of the "mining days" organized by the Bruksvallarna Village Association. Usually hosted weekly throughout the summer, these immersive cultural and historic experiences allow you to sample the life of an ancient miner, complete with coffee and "kolbulle" (a type of pancake served with lingonberry jam) cooked over open fire at the mining cabin just above Ramundberget Village. An unmissable 2 km hike!
Pick the "Gold of the Woods"
August and September is high season for both cloudberries and chanterelles in Ramundberget, both referred to as "the gold of the woods" since time immemorial. Chanterelles are particularly happy in mountainous birch forests at an altitude of between 400-800 m. The valley around Ramundberget is an ideal place for this, and with enough curiosity and willpower chances are good that you'll find your own goldmine. Tourists come from near and far to find these traditional Swedish delicacies in our woods!
Refuel with Style
If you're feeling hungry after all that nature, fear not. We have many restaurants both in the valley and on the mountain. Restaurant Tusen, located above the treeline, matches the opening hours of our lifts and offers light lunches, snacks and "fika" with great views of the snowy caps around us. In the valley you'll find Grytan Bar & Kitchen as well as Mor Britas at Hotel Fjällgården, offering lunch, dinner and fika made from locally sourced ingredients.
Ramundberget is the perfect place for those who like to fill their days with beautiful mountain hiking while spending their evenings eating well and their nights in comfortable beds. Welcome to the end of the road!
