There are lots of trails around Mittåkläppen, and this eight-hour option leads to the summit. Starting in Ramundberget, the tour goes by the historical mines onto Djupdalsvallen and connecting paths.
From Ramundberget, the tour begins as you pass the campsite and cross the bridge over Ljusnan River. Follow the signs for Gruvturen ("The Mine Tour") leading up a steep hill towards "Gruvstugan," the mining cottage. Initially a steep uphill hike, the trail eventually flattens for an easier hike past historical mines towards Djupdalsvallen. From here, follow signs for the Mittåkläppen Summit.
Once in Djupdalsvallen, you can choose between several paths. There's also a popular "Våffelstuga" (waffle cabin) by the old cattle sheds. A great place to stop for a traditional Swedish "frasvåffla!"
Driving There
For a shorter hike, you can take the car to Djupdalsvallen. For information about our Mountain Parking Lots ("Fjällparkeringar"), see below. From Djupdallsvallen you can choose between many beautiful Gemtours, or just enjoy that Swedish mountain waffle.
